Nikky is working hard on the scrapbook for convention coming up. Ellie is busy working on her speech for State Secretary at Convention later this month. Akshay has already won Webmaster for California!
Magis passed out the forms labelled “Convention 2016” which need to be returned by Friday.

Convention is coming up! Magis has sent in the recommendations for Akshay and Ellie. The hotel has a shuttle to the airport, so the people who are leaving Sunday morning will use that. We need all our Convention preparations to be in by today the 23rd. Ellie is looking online for some props for the spirit competition, and we’ve decided to order 60’s themed hats and sunglasses. Jackson is in charge of the catapult.

Officers present: Grace, Ellie, Akshay, Jason, Tatum, Nikky, Izzy, Riya, and Rachel.
Magis wants to encourage kids to handle dramatic interpretation, Latin oratory costume, and English oratory at Convention. School Year Abroad is presenting this Thursday at lunch if anyone is interested in attending. Magis reports that we have booked our flight to Convention and we are still working on making our reservations back home.
During meeting, officers are busy texting people to remind them to bring supplies for the waffle sale tomorrow. We are also making the flyer for the waffle sale to put around campus.
Our Marti Gras party is happening next week on the 3rd of February. Ellie is looking on the website for Oriental Trading for some decorations. We will be ordering Popeye’s but not as much spicy foods. We need someone to get some candy and we need to figure out how to decorate the umbrellas. Magis is going to see what’s available at the Dollar store before Grace goes to Michael’s.
We also need to make the permission slips for the Marti Gras party and Carcer.

Today during meeting we are trying to finalize our travel arrangements to State Convention. We are extending the deadline for registering for State Convention until the 20th of January. For convention, we have people who are making the banner. But, we need someone to get the chariot back in working order. The catapult also needs a bit of updating. Mr. Spence is interested in helping collaborate on those projects.
If anyone is interested in running for state office, look at the California JCL website for more details and talk to Magis.
We need to find a date for our Marti Gras shelter for the shelter. Ideally, we would hold the party before Marti Gras. This also means that we need to have a waffle sale. We are thinking January 21st, and Ellie is going to check with Mr. Lapolla if that date works.

Convention planning has officially begun. Izzy is researching flights to and from Orange County. So far there are flights available from United and Southwest. We are planning at staying at the Marriott in Irvine. We are thinking about also going to Disneyland while we are in Southern California. If some students don’t want to go to Disneyland, they can fly home earlier. Grace, Nikki, and Izzy will be working on the banner. Izzy and Magis will be meeting to create the cover letter for convention to hand out to everyone in Menlo JCL.
