We filled out the forms to register for convention.
Jackson gave us a community service update. We are going to do service for A Million thanks. They send letters and care packages to soldiers that are overseas and veterans. We are going to write letters and send them at convention, and people can drop in to do this. Elizabeth will design cards to send, then people will color them. The snack bar money will go to the fire victims. We will also do coin wars with the state officers that will benefit the scholarship fund.

Rachel and Elizabeth are going to the middle school on Wednesday to teach them how to make friendship bracelets so that they can help us. We will make this a publicity event.
The hype video for convention is almost done and will be done tomorrow.
For the escape room, Bruce has found all of the things we need to get on Amazon and will get them soon.
We are working on the scrapbook and it is going well.
For lunches in the future, we need one vegetarian, one gluten free, two people will pack their own lunch, and 15 others.
Naomi wrote a thank-you note to Mr. Lapolla because he got us lunches so that we don’t have to wait in line at the cafeteria and can start our meeting earlier.
Naomi will order t-shirts based on Rachel’s list. We use custom ink to order, and we are ordering the soft material for shirts. On the front, we will put the new JCL logo, which Magis will send to Naomi. We will order 5 smalls, 5 mediums, and 5 extra smalls beyond the list for extras, just in case. The shirt will be purple.
We decided to not do a project for the hurricanes because then we do a lot of good work with the shelter, and that is already a lot of community service. We also have to organize convention, so we don’t want to overload ourselves.

Rachel will register us for state convention for CAJCL, and we need to start registering for NJCL by next week.
We reminded everyone that we need to take class pictures for the scrapbook.
We sent out reminders for people to bring their supplies for the middle school scavenger hunt on Thursday. We are trying to have people bring things on Wednesday to eliminate forgetting. We will probably have three teams, and we need to make copies of the clues.
Jackson will email the person at the shelter to ask for the costume list for the Halloween party.
We may design a new thank you note, anyone can do this if they want. We have used the same one for a while.
Natalie and Drew will talk to Mr. Lapolla about convention money. We may want to use a profit from convention to give scholarships for our trip in the summer to Italy/Greece, if we are allowed, because then more people will be able to go.
We wrote thank you notes to the parents who hosted progressive supper.
For the awards for the middle school scavenger hunt, we chose scratch and sniff stickers. Natalie will get those on amazon.

We need to get out signups for middle school scavenger hunt on Oct 5, which Natalie will do. Michael went to the middle school to announce the scavenger hunt.
We are deciding whether we should do a service project for Houston and Florida, as the NJCL is doing that. Jackson will look on the NJCL website to see if there are things we can do.
We need to enter out website into NJCL website contest relatively soon.
We are deciding whether we want to do a trip this summer. Greece or Gaul (South of France) are options. The problem is that Menlo doesn’t support these trips though the school anymore, so only those who can afford it can come. We could possibly use profits from convention, if we are allowed.
Ludi is November 18 in Sacramento. Morgan will help Magis fill out forms, get buses during tutorial wednesday
We need to decide if we are going to the De Young Museum. They have an exhibit on statues that were painted in color in the ancient world from October 28 through January 7. We will try and get a group for Saturday, January 6, the Saturday after we get back from break. We will also eat brunch/lunch that day
Promotional Video update

We finished by filling out an evaluation about Magis because she is going through her formal review.
We have a waffle sale for the shelter tomorrow 9/20. We still need more batter and more strawberries. We texted people and told them to bring their materials to the student center as early as possible
Sophie and Natalie are leading the middle school ice cream social and scavenger hunt. We need to find the locations and write the clues. We need to have the flyer done by Friday, which Bruce will do. We also need to order the awards. We are going to the middle school classes to promote it on these days:

The lorica was a success! We had some comments from the CAJCL board when Natalie, Drew, and Magis went down there this weekend.
They loved the idea of the escape room. We may outsource this to a company.
We are considering Sodexo for the food for the non-banquet nights, but it will be a higher level of Sodexo than what we had during school lunches.
For the banquet, we are doing food trucks, but we will have more than last year so that the lines are not so long. They also said that $32,000 for 15 trucks is fine, so we will get a quote for that.
The clubs fair is during lunch on Friday, so we need to get candy that doesn’t melt to give out. We will bring the scrapbook and the awards, and do a publicity event at the fair. We will buy a couple of pods but not many for the espresso machine, because the seniors that used to buy the espresso have graduated. Volleyball coach can help with Volleyball at state convention. Kevin Conner may be able to help — we should check with him about soccer We need to remember to follow the white booklet when planning events, as that is the JCL law. Thanks to Naomi for the t-shirt! It looks awesome. We have had the suggestion of the giving tree as the theme for convention, which we will talk about next meeting.
Our goal is to have the welcome back Lorica finished by the week of the 11th, so we need to finish the articles.
We will put short questions about each officer on the website, which we can also put in the scrapbook.
We will start shooting the video this week — we may need to borrow a camera
We have three main ideas for publicity
1) Sat Sept 9 is a huge day for sports at Menlo — there is a girls volleyball tournament and a boys water polo tournament. Another weekend is the weekend after, there is a football game. We can make posters for games or sports reminders.
2) The open house is Sept 24, so we can set up a table
3) We should wear Latin gear to school, possibly during spirit week. Another thing we could do is wear the old t-shirts.
Tripp is very excited to help with the escape room. Two possible ideas for themes are the minotaur and the labyrinth, or the Underworld We are trying for a new date for the ice cream social. We are trying to get a waffle sale on 9/20 Approved. Once it is approved, we will send out a packed with signups. The new student life person promised to get us approved by the end of today. Sophie and Victoria are meeting Wednesday at tutorial to work on food. They will look into the possibility of In and out trucks. We need group photos of classes and individual photos of officers. We will have the t-shirt designs by next Tuesday, we are currently brainstorming ideas of friends in mythology. We need to ask parents about hosting progressive supper An idea for convention is possible gladiatorial games.
