JCL Minutes 3/6/19

  • Jack needs to get props for the spirit events at convention.
    • Since the theme is “bees,” Jack was thinking of wearing yellow construction hats with antennae attached, so that way we will be like worker bees.
    • We could also get cheap yellow shirts and use black duct tape to make the stripes.
      • Since we will be wearing the shirts over our togas, we are all getting size larges.
    • Also, we could make a crown for Magis, making her the “queen bee.”
    • In addition, we can wear yellow construction gloves.
    • Lastly, we could make honey dippers to carry on with the theme.

JCL Minutes 2/26/19

  • Metamorphoses this weekend
    • Choose restaurant near Berkeley Rep, 2025 Addison St.: Natalie
    • We leave at 5 pm. From the circle. Mr. Brodie is coming with us.

      • We are planning on leaving school at 12:15 so that everyone can eat lunch and we can beat the traffic.

JCL Minutes 1/29/19

  • State dues are paid and finished!
    • We still have $1150 after state dues, according to Morgan!

  • Report on scrapbook: Historians have more pictures.
    • The Historians worked on the Scrapbook during tutorial yesterday and made a lot of progress.
      • However, two photos turned out fuzzy when printed, so Maddie is going to try to reprint them.
    • They are coordinating illustrations with Natalie, as well.
    • Also, please let Naomi know if you are willing to help her with the banner for convention.
  • Metamorphoses: We need your money and forms
    • Please get in your permission slip and money to Metamorphoses if you are going because Magis needs to know how many people will be present.

    • The prisoners were extremely grateful for the books that we sent them and wrote very sweet thank you notes, which should be featured in the Scrapbook.

    • We need to get the JCL dues out as soon as possible because we are one of the last schools to pay.

    • We are planning on hosting Ludi next year, so it will be a really productive convention.

    • Please send everything to Ahna because she puts everything on our website.
    • We have gotten to five libraries already!
  • Pay state JCL Dues: Morgan
    • We need to pay are JCL dues as soon as possible.
  • Ludi next year
    • Menlo is most likely going to host Ludi 2019!
    • Automatically, one of us gets on the board if we host.
    • If we start now, we can possibly get Mark Zuckerberg to give a talk, because he studied Latin and credits much of his success to it.
    • We could also host at Stanford, again, but it is slightly harder to be in control when we are not at our own school.

  • Congrats on Club of the Month! Again!!!
    • Although we are not sure how many clubs enter, we have been consistently winning!
  • Plan for JCL display at the Menlo Park Library: Sophie R.
    • We still need to talk to Portola Valley Library about setting up posters and handing out bookmarks.
    • However, we have put up posters and bookmarks in libraries around the Peninsula, such as Menlo Park, San Mateo, and East Palo Alto.

    • Convention is MANDATORY, so please tell your parents to leave for vacation on Sunday morning after convention.
